Sychrov Castle
SYCHROV
Sychrov Chateau is situated in a picturesque landscape of Bohemian Paradise well known for its rock towns. The Surrounding landscape always attracted artists such as K. H. Macha, J. Manes or Antonin Dvorak, the leading Czech composer of the 19th century, who used to spend a lot of time here.
The first fort was built during the early 15th century. In 17th century there was built 2-floor chateau. In 1856 Kamil Rohan brought to Sychrov the carver Petr Busek to materialise Pruvot's designs of interior adaptations in Roman Style. After Kamil Rohan´s death in 1892, his nephew Alain Arthur Rohan inherited the manor. In 20's the chateau interiors underwent a big modernisation. Now there are 42 magnificent halls opened for public. The visitors are shown newly opened second floor in the castle.
