Football is the most popular sport in the Czech Republic. Currently (October 2005), the Czech Republic is ranked third in FIFA world rankings. Czech national football team finished 3rd at the European Football Championship EURO 2004 in Portugal. Pavel Nedved – captain of the national team won the Golden Ball award for the best world football player 2003. Czech youth teams are at a high standard as well.

Even though the Czech Republic has lost a number of top players to foreign clubs, it is in eleventh place in the European club rankings, and for the season 2005/2006 the Czech Republic has 5 teams playing for European Cups. The Czech football champion 2004/2005 Sparta Prague was directly qualified to UEFA Champions League.

Football is played in all cities, towns and villages across the Czech Republic and pitches are to be found in the least expected places.

ESTEC is the Czech agent for visiting professional and international teams and clubs, including Scotland and the Faroe Islands, plus official fan clubs.

ESTEC runs its own amateur football club who play both local league football and tournaments within the Czech Republic and Europe. ESTEC invites your team to join in our 2005 football tour-naments. There were more than 20 satisfied teams of all levels playing in 2005.

All games and tournaments are played on grass pitches, with changing room facilities, qualified referees, trophies (tournaments only). A very important point not to forget is the great atmosphere enjoyed by all not only during the matches but after match celebrations also. The fun does not end after 90 minutes as the party is just about to start.
