Carlsbad (Karlovy Vary)
Karlovy Vary is the biggest and best-known Czech Spa. The town was founded by the Emperor Charles IV in the middle of the 14th century and now has 12 healing springs with temperatures ranging from 40 to 73 °C. The local drinking cure has a favourable effect on the treatment of diseases of the digestive system. The town has many colonnades and recently renovated historically valuable buildings. The town is also well known for its production of the herb liqueur, Becherovka, which goes back to 1805 and the Moser Museum (glass).
