Marienbad (Mariánské Lázně)
Mariánské Lázně is the second largest spa town and recreational resort in Western Bohemia. A garden city in the countryside, it is located on the southern edge of the Slavkov forest. The local springs were discovered in the 16th century. The spa was raised to the status of a town in 1866. The historical centre of the town, made up of sanatoriums, hotels and spa houses, is concentrated around the charming colonnade from 1889 and the buildings housing the springs. There are about 40 curative mineral springs which have a favourable effect on the treatment of metabolic complains. The town has the best golf course in the country and there are many other possibilities for sport and recreation.
